Join the Nebraska Eating Disorders Network, Eating Recovery Center, and Children’s Omaha for a continuing education presentation entitled “Eating Disorders and Somatic Symptom Disorders: Overlaps, treatment approaches, and the challenge of figuring out what is what” presented by: Dr. Anne Marie O’Melia, MS, MD, FAAP, the Chief Medical Officer of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist & Pediatrician at Eating Recovery Center. The event will be held in the Glow Auditorium of Children’s Hospital on the third floor. This event is intended for physicians, psychologists, APRNs, PAs, RDs, LMHPs, and other professionals who work with patients with eating disorders. They will learn how to list the diagnostic criteria and review the typical clinical symptoms for three common eating disorders, become familiar with the biopsychosocial model for understanding the causes of eating disorder, and examine the role of somatic symptoms in eating disorders and discuss a model for conceptualization and treatment of comorbid eating disorders with somatic symptom disorders. Continuing education credits have been approved through the American Psychological Association, National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Association for Addiction Professionals, the Commission on Dietetic Registration through the Eating Recovery Center, and through the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, Nebraska Eating Disorder Network, and the Eating Recovery Center.
